Ultimate Beverage Challenge 92 points - Dark gold hue. Rich toffee and butterscotch notes on the nose. There is a hint of salt water in the aroma, while the palate is voluptuous with dried ginger flavors, along with butter, peat and salt. The long finish leaves the impression of dark spices. Shows a lot of complexity on the nose and palate. (Mar 2013)

A much-beloved malt in the U.S. Some say its because it is easy to pronounce (though having said that, remember its OH-bin and not OBahn). Id prefer to think its popularity is because there is something about the fresh cleanliness of the nose, its orange oils, chocolate, and zesty-zingy and yes, occasionally salty spiciness that is instantly appealing.
