Black Feather Cocktail

In a world that is crazy for Whiskey based cocktails, today we offer you a lowball built on brandy. Robert Hess is a cocktail blogger and author of The Essential Bartender's Guide: How to Make Truly Great Cocktails. He is the creator of the Black Feather Cocktail which we found published in “Bitters”. It is a variation of sorts on the Manhattan and has a beautiful balance of ingredients. The brandy that you select to use will play an important part in the results you will receive.  We recommend a VS Cognac but imagine it would be equally good with a well-bred Spanish brandy such as Cardenal Mendoza.  Cheers!

Black Feather Cocktail

In a mixing glass filled with ice add:

  • 2 Ounces of Well-Bred Brandy (we suggest a VS Cognac)
  • 1 Ounce Dry Vermouth
  • ½ Ounce Cointreau
  • 1 Dash Angostura Bitters

Stir to chill then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  Garnish with a lemon twist.
