Martha’s Apple Cider Bourbon Sour

When it comes to being the Hostess with the mostest, Martha Stewart is the reigning queen, hands down. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, today we share with you her recipe for an Apple Cider Bourbon Sour.  It is an easy four ingredient cocktail but as always, presented with Martha’s special flair.  She offers it as a batch recipe made in a pitcher and we share that below as well as proportions for single servings.  In preparing for the drink, Martha serves it with Apple Cider ice balls as not to dilute the drink.  Should you have ice ball molds or large cube trays you will want to fill them with cider and freeze them solid in advance.  If you don’t have either of the above a simple ice cube tray will do.  Give the Apple Cider Bourbon Sour a try and be that host/hostess with the mostest for your family and friends.  Cheers!

Martha’s Apple Cider Bourbon Sour (serves 3-4)

In a small pitcher (no ice) add:

  • 8 Ounces of Bourbon—(Martha uses Michter's)
  • 16 Ounces of Apple Cider
  • The Juice of One Lemon

Stir Ingredients to combine.  Rub the rim of a lowball glass with lemon, then dip in brown sugar.  Add cider ice ball or cider cubes to fill glass.  Pour cocktail over cider ice ~ Garnish with a lemon dipped apple slice*

Martha’s Apple Cider Bourbon Sour (single serving)

In a shaker glass (no ice) add:

  • 2 Ounces of Bourbon—(Martha uses Michter's)
  • 4 Ounces of Apple Cider
  • ½ Tablespoon Lemon juice

Stir Ingredients to combine.  Rub the rim of a lowball glass with lemon, then dip in brown sugar.  Add cider ice ball or cider cubes to fill glass.  Pour cocktail over cider ice ~ Garnish with a lemon dipped apple slice*

*Dipping the apple slices in lemon keeps them from browning.
